On 11 October 2019, I, Dr. Bonginkosi Emmanuel Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, extended the period of compliance with the Regulations for the Protection of the Karoo Central Astronomy Advantage Areas, in Government Gazette No. 42762, under Notice No. 1318.Due to the restrictions imposed in terms of the Regulations made in terms of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Act No. 57 of 2002), as a result of the Covid-19 (Corona Virus) pandemic, I hereby further extend the period of compliance with the Regulations for the Protection of the Karoo Central Astronomy Advantage Areas by six (6) months in terms of Regulation 6 of Schedule A of the Regulations, to allow licencees and licence exempt operators more time to comply with the provisions of the said Regulations.
