I, Bonkinkosi Emmanuel Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, in accordance with section 41(2) and section 57(2) of the Higher Education Act (Act No. 101 of 1997 as amemended), as well as section 25(3) of the Continuing Education and Training Act (Act No. 16 of 2006) read with regulation 10(8)(a) and (c) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002: Regulations relating to COVID-19 (Government Notice R398 of 2020 published in Government Gazette No. 43107 of 18 March 2020), hereby exempt all those public and private higher education institutions and public colleges to which these acts apply and which have not yet complied with the prescribed date(s) and accordingly grant the extension as set out in the Schedule.Dr BE Nzimande, MPMinister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation

Extension dates for the Post-School Educaton and Training (PSET) institutions (public and private higher education institutions as well as public colleges) under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training

1.The relevant functionary or institution, for the 2019/20 financial year, is exempted from complying with the deadlines in the Higher Education Act, the Continuing Education and Training Act and any regulation made or instruction issued in terms of these acts, where such deadlines fall within the period 31 March 2020 to 31 July 2020.
2.Due to the current lockdown regarding the movement of persons and goods as a result of the national state of disaster that has been extended to 30 April 2020, institutions must comply with the relevant provisions of the applicable Acts and prescribed date(s) applicable to them within two (2) months after the deadline in the applicable provision.
