I, Dr Mmaphaka Tau, in my capacity as Head of the National Disaster Management Centre, after having re-assessed the magnitude and severity of the COVID-19 disease and consultation with the National Disaster Management Advisory Forum, and following the termination of the national state of disaster by the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, give notice that the National Disaster Management Centre hereby revokes the classification of the COVID-19 pandemic as a national disaster.I hereby, in terms of section 20(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Act No. 57 of 2002), call upon organs of state, the private sector, non-governmental organisations, communities and individuals to continue working together, through formal and informal initiatives to enhance risk avoidance measures and build resilience to reduce the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 disease.Dr Mmaphaka TauHead: National Disaster Management Centre
